OneTel Case Study.

In 1998, OneTel allowed IVSTEL to compete with their incumbent system provider to develop a new generation of Postpaid Least Cost Routing Software for their growing fixed line network. IVSTEL was given the Sydney site to develop and the incumbent was given Los Angeles to develop.

The IVSTEL system used the Summa Four carrier grade programmable switch with the controlling software running on a SUN Unix server.

IVSTEL developed the required system by building on our existing base of telephony switching software. The system went live in Sydney, 12 weeks later.

The IVSTEL team was then sent to Los Angeles USA to install the system where the incumbent had failed. The IVSTEL system was modified to support the American ANSI SS7 standard and was in production after 3 weeks.

Subsequently, the team marched through successful installations of the IVSTEL system in the UK, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Germany and Hong Kong. Each new country and each new carrier required the mandatory SS7 interconnect testing which was also performed by IVSTEL.

Locally in Australia, IVSTEL installed and supported new OneTel sites in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

In 1999 IVSTEL agreed to license our source code to OneTel Australia to allow OneTel programmers to develop the IVSTEL product in-house for Australia.

IVSTEL was given the exciting job of providing software support and enhancements for all countries other than Australia.

Although OneTel collapsed as a company in Australia in 2001, many of the overseas OneTel operations were sold as going concerns. Throughout the Australian collapse, IVSTEL supported the overseas operations and the new owners continue to be supported by IVSTEL to this day.
